The third largest but second-most populous of the British Virgin Islands, there is still plenty going on to inspire awe and excitement but in a uniquely understated and laidback way. Surrounded by colourful reefs of coral and warm Caribbean waters, Virgin Gorda is eight-and-a-half square miles of volcanic rock dressed with luscious greenery and local hospitality in equal measure.
The signature white beaches are accessible to all, yet they are often deserted and beckon you to leave the first footprints in powder soft sand. Dotted sporadically with boutique resorts in secluded bays around the island, this is low-key tourism at its finest.
Mixing the ocean’s salty breeze and tastes of local flavour with fresh interiors and a warm community feel, the Sugarcane restaurant at Nail Bay encapsulates life on the island. Our overall look is inspired by beach living using natural material furnishings with a Caribbean flair and an upscale attitude. As you sit with your feet in the sand under beams of caramel-coloured timber and the gentle rotation of overhead fans, take the time to savour our freshly-made dishes and the good company around you.

Nail Bay is one of the most secluded parts of Virgin Gorda but at less than 7 kilometres away, it is a short 10-minute drive from the ferry docks in Spanish Town. Firstly, travel east to the North Sound Road and then north along the coastline towards Gorda Peak National Park. When the main road forks, take the left road towards the beach, pass through Mango and Mahoe Bay (speed humps!), and we are located on the right after the dip as you arrive into the next developed bay.
From Leverick Bay or Gun creek, head out and up the hill toward Spanish Town, and take the 90 degree right turn on to the Nail Bay road, 200 yards after the steep hairpin that appears after leaving the roadside bars and houses of The Bond behind. Carry on past Hog Heaven following the road West for 5 minutes. We are located on the right in the centre of Nail Bay and can’t be missed!
Vessels can anchor in Mountain Trunk Bay and tender in to shore however there is no dock to tie onto. Guests can contact our staff by phone on +1 284 495 5455 and we can arrange for a golf cart to pick up from the beach. It is guests’ responsibility to haul and secure their dinghy while they come and enjoy the facility.
Alternatively, Virgin Gorda Yacht Harbor offers 111 berths for yachts up to 50m and taxis are readily available to drive the scenic 10 minutes to Sugarcane. Leverick Bay is a also just 10 minute taxi ride away from Nail Bay from the North Sound on the other side.
